Indeed, Palace inflicted only Jose Mourinho's second ever Premier League defeat at Stamford Bridge and Wright used it as justification to both celebrate the Eagles' win - and make a joke about Mourinho's rivalry with Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger.
Wright's initial reaction on Twitter was aimed at Crystal Palace, who he used to play for up front, scoring prolifically.
But the striker turned pundit went on to bring another of his old clubs into it in the form of Arsenal.
Wright heaped praise on Crystal Palace boss Alan Pardew and joked about how Chelsea coach Mourinho intriguingly only seems to lose to managers whose surname begins with the letter 'P.'
Hence a cheeky but albeit simplistic joke about Arsenal boss Wenger.
AL AL super AL, AL AL super AL, AL AL super AL super Alan Pardew!! Jose can't beat the P's. Arsene Penger? I like it.— Ian Wright (@IanWright0) August 29, 2015
Chelsea are now eight points behind league-leaders Manchester City, which is an alarming gap at any stage of the season. Arsenal are a little better off, five points behind City in fifth.
Crystal Palace, though, are now up to second after winning three out of their first four Premier League games. Very impressive indeed.
