The former Newcastle United midfielder is working for BT Sport at St James' Park today.
The controversial midfielder, who was released by QPR at the end of last season, has agreed to play at Turf Moor for the upcoming season after failing to agree a move to West Ham in the Premier League.
However, whilst out of contract, he was asked on a number of occasions whether he would consider a return to one of his former club’s – Newcastle United.
The Toon Army had Barton on their books for one of the more tumultuous spells of his career between 2007 and 2011.
He loved his time at Newcastle, although the problems behind the scenes were not so well received.
But he loved the fans at the club and today the midfielder was back on Tyneside.
He sent out this Tweet from St James' Park where Newcastle will face off with Arsenal in the early afternoon kick-off today.
Barton will be working on the game for BT Sport, hence his presence, whilst his new team Burnley take on Bristol City in the West Country.
Of course this represents the last weekend off Barton will have for a while, so here’s hoping he enjoys it.
