ESPN pundit calls Newcastle player a clown, Richard Keys gives his verdict

St James Park

Arsenal defeated Newcastle United 1-0 at St. James’ Park in the Premier League today.

Former Derby County and Celtic midfielder Craig Burley has taken to social networking site Twitter to give his reaction to Aleksandar Mitrovic’s dismissal against Arsenal today.

The Newcastle United striker was sent off in the 16th minute of the Premier League encounter at St. James’ Park for rash challenge on Arsenal midfielder Francis Coquelin.

It was a controversial decision which divided opinions among those who were following the game.

Former Celtic and Derby midfielder Burley, who now works as a pundit for ESPN, was among those who thought that Mitrovic deserved to be sent off, calling the 20-year-old Serbia international a “clown” on Twitter.

Well-known sports presenter Richard Keys also felt that Mitrovic was rightly sent off for his challenge on Coquelin.

An own goal from Argentine defender Fabricio Coloccini seven minutes into the second half proved to be the difference between the two teams at St. James’ Park, as hosts Newcastle suffered a narrow 1-0 defeat.
