Fans react on Twitter to Joey Barton's move to Burnley

Here's how Twitter reacted to Joey Barton's switch to Burnley.

Thursday saw Burnley announce the signing of former Queens Park Rangers midfielder Joey Barton on a one-year deal on the club's official website.

According to BBC Sport, Clarets boss Sean Dyche confirmed that they had been in talks with the 32-year-old for eight weeks before announcing he had arrived at Turf Moor.

Barton was a free agent following his release by Queens Park Rangers at the end of last season and still hadn't found a new team when the season began nearly three weeks ago.

The 32-year-old was in talks with West Ham United, but the Premier League club pulled out of the deal after fans protested at the prospect of his signing - as reported by the Daily Mail.

He made 28 appearances for the Loftus Road outfit last term, scoring one goal and fashioning a further 57 key passes – including three assists.

Nonetheless, the club opted against retaining his services following their return to the second tier, having finished bottom of the Premier League table.

Here is how Twitter reacted to the Barton’s summer move to Lancashire.
