Report: Leverkusen on verge of quick Heung-Min Son replacement deal

Bay Arena - Bayer Leverkusen

Bayer Leverkusen recently sold attacker Heung-Min Son to Tottenham Hotspur.

Bayer Leverkusen have wasted no time in finding a replacement for the recently sold Heung-Min Son as they could tie up a deal for Salzburg striker Jonathan Soriano within hours, Diario Sport report.

The Spanish publication report how the Bundesliga outfit have quickly targeted Jonathan Soriano after Tottenham Hotspur prized Son away by exercising his previous release clause.

Spurs’ decision to sign Son clearly riled the German outfit, especially considering how close we are to the transfer deadline and how little time Leverkusen are left to find a suitable alternative.

Son, 23, netted 11 goals for Leverkusen last season and helped them achieve Champions League qualification, therefore the void he left is obviously not an easy task to fill-

Nevertheless, Diario Sport go on to explain how negotiations for Spanish striker Soriano is at an advanced stage and the player is extremely keen having worked with manager Roger Schmidt previously.

Soriano, 29, boasts an incredible scoring record in Austria with 131 goals in 149 games for Salzburg in all competitions, including an impressive 20 strikes in the past two Europa League campaigns.

He would himself have been a good option for Spurs considering their shortage of strikers, but his age compared to Son makes the latter a much more promising prospect.

The South Korea international will also prove a big market booster for the White Hart Lane outfit, and on-field success will likely see his value rise and a potential future sale extremely rewarding.
