Tottenham fans react to West Brom statement, make their Levy thoughts clear

Saido Berahino

West Brom's public declaration that they won't sell Saido Berahino to Tottenham Hotspur has naturally caused plenty of reaction.

West Brom chairman Jeremy Peace's official statement regarding the future of Saido Berahino has naturally caused a stir in the pubs, in homes up and down the country and, not least, on social media.

Indeed, Peace sent Tottenham what appeared to be two clear messages: that their 22-year-old forward is not going anywhere - but that he could have been if Daniel Levy had acted faster.

In response, there was plenty of wariness regarding the West Brom chief's comments, as well as suggestions that Levy will have done plenty of deals by this time next week.

But, even so, there was also plenty of frustration among the Spurs faithful - not for the first time - who fear the north London side could well have missed out on another target and could well end up with an incomplete squad after Deadline Day. Could Levy's approach of leaving things late hurt Tottenham's Premier League season?

In the comments section on the HITC Sport pages, several supporters expressed worry for Spurs. Visit the original article for the full debate but here is a selection of what the more worried Tottenham fans are saying...

Cam wrote: 'Levy out!! Useless Chairman and at hiring managers'

Keith Andrew wrote: 'Agree he is not worth £25/30 m, but if we wanted him then Pearce is right the more we ponce around the less likely we are going to succeed. Question now is what is plan b because Austin and Borini don't sound like top 4 strikers.'

Gee Grant wrote: 'The transfer has been going on for weeks and that's one reason they've bought in Lambert and Rondon. Where Levy can be criticised is his insistence of trying to buy cheap. If we really wanted Saido THRN they should have paid the going price from the off instead of friggin about.'

SPURS FC wrote: 'Personally speaking. I get the feeling that Peace is giving Levy the run-around and I don't blame him. If Levy is going to treat everyone as if they are stupid then he will undoubtedly be on the wrong end of a lesson at some point. That is now.'

Tony Borg wrote: 'Levy left it too late messed up any deal and from what I hear now wants Borini, that just screams Levy desperation.'

wunty-n298ut=13cu =0 u`= wrote: 'Chairman has no idea.. A manager needs to know his team and train them up before the season starts Mr. Levy.. Your purse strings should have been loosened two months ago.. You are the soul reason why this once great club will never be so again....'

Ben wrote: 'He isn't worth over 20mill but having stupidly blown so much more than that on Soldado, Lamela, Paulhino with the Bale money, it seems a bit daft to try and come across now as careful with money for the sake of 5mill. Bizarre fun and games especially when we are even worse than we were last season!'
