Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino says he would be taking a risk with new signing Clinton N'Jie

Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino says it will be a risk to start new signing Clinton N'Jie this weekend.

Tottenham Hotspur head coach Mauricio Pochettino says it would be a risk to pick Clinton N'Jie this weekend, report London24.

N'Jie signed a fortnight ago from Ligue 1 side Lyon but is yet to make his debut.

He did not feature against Leicester City last weekend, with Pochettino explaining to Tottenham's official club website that this was because he had returned late from France to where he had to return to sort out paperwork regarding his work permit, which was subsequently approved.

Now the head coach has told fans to brace themselves not to see the new boy in the line-up this weekend, stating he is struggling for fitness.

He told London24: "I think it’s difficult, because he was injured in pre-season with Lyon and it’s true that his fitness levels are not yet [right). I think it’s a big risk if he starts."

The good news is that the Cameroon international was not ruled out entirely, and could yet be on the bench. This could give the side a confidence boost, having him if needed, and if he is brought on during the match with Everton it will give the crowd a real lift.

Pochettino's Tottenham beat Everton 1-0 in their last meeting with a strike from Harry Kane, and would settle for the same this time around, still looking for their first win of the season and the striker for his first goal.
