Sunderland fans have taken to social networking site Twitter to give their reaction to the signing of Ola Toivonen.
The 29-year-old, who can play as an attacking midfielder or a striker, has joined Premier League outfit Sunderland on a season-long loan deal from French outfit Rennes.
The Sweden international is a highly rated player who played under current Black Cats manager Dick Advocaat at PSV during a five-year spell in the Eredivisie.
Since joining Rennes in January 2014, Toivonen has scored 14 goals in 46 Ligue 1 appearances.
Toivonen has been brought in at the Stadium of Light in order to add more flair and creativity to Sunderland’s attack.
The Black Cats have started the 2015-16 Premier League badly, and there are concerns that they will once again be fighting for survival this season.
Following the signing of Toivonen on a loan deal, Sunderland fans took to Twitter to have their say.

Love how toivonen heard about us after him and wanted the move straight away #safc— Louis Booth (@LouisBooth92) August 28, 2015
I'm quite excited to see Ola Toivonen playing for #safc, I think he could come good. He gets 10 goals this season and it's been a good loan— Mark Emmerson (@Mark_Emmerson_) August 28, 2015
Toivonen looks to be the man for the attacking centre midfield role. De Guzman dithered too long and we needed to move on #safc— Graeme Atkinson (@SAFCElvis) August 28, 2015
Well Toivonen filling the De Guzman rule by the sounds of things, get a CB and a winger #safc— Louis Booth (@LouisBooth92) August 28, 2015
Surprised Ola Toivonen hasn't been quoted as saying he can't wait to beat Newcastle. Scarf at AOL then cheap tactics by our media dept #safc— Gary Bellamy (@Gaz_Bellamy) August 28, 2015
