The reports claiming West Ham were keen on the player are apparently wide of the mark.
Sport Mediaset are reporting that there is absolutely no truth to the rumours linking the Italian with a move from the San Siro to Upton Park to alleviate their attacking woes.
Matri is instead looking to stay in Italy, but Milan are looking to shift him after the arrival of Mario Balotelli on loan from Liverpool.
Matri is just the latest in a long line of strikers being linked with a move to West Ham in the last few weeks.
The club are currently struggling in the striker department. Enner Valencia is injured and has been causing a stir off the pitch. Andy Carroll is still out injured, but is starting to bring himself back to full fitness. Diafra Sakho is having his own issues off the pitch whilst Modibo Maiga is not Premier League standard. They also have Mauro Zarate, but he has been playing as a more off the striker option.
Matri was however a sub-par option. The striker is not a potent finisher and would not have filled the striker gap at Upton Park.
They are said to be linked with the likes of Burak Yilmaz and Emmanuel Adebayor – two players much more of the calibre that West Ham need.
