Reports in Ireland are today suggesting that West Ham United have made a move for Dundalk midfielder Richie Towell.

It is reported by the that West Ham have approached Dundalk about signing the impressive central midfielder – who has been in sensational form this season.

Towell is currently the top goalscorer in the League of Ireland, despite his midfield position, after scoring 15 goals in 27 games across all competitions.

A former Celtic youngster the Irishman went back to his homeland with Dundalk in 2013. A former Ireland Under-21 international, he is yet to make his mark for the senior side and a move to England might just be the key to making it into the Ireland national set-up.

Towell, who has previously interested the likes of Cardiff City and QPR, would likely be available at a bargain price and at 24-years-old has not passed the point of improvement for the Hammers.

They recently let Kevin Nolan leave the club on a free transfer and the idea of bringing in a potentially prosperous gamble in his place might not sit to well with West Ham fans.

But at the right price, this might be the Premier League’s next Seamus Coleman.
