Report: Watford enter race to sign Roma winger Juan Iturbe, face Premier League competition

Watford have been linked with Iturbe, along with Everton and West Ham.

Watford are the latest club to show a reported interest in Juan Iturbe of Roma, according to a report in Calciomercato.

It is stated that the 22-year-old winger, a once-capped Paraguayan international, is not settled with the Giallorossi, and the Serie A side are looking to sell him before the close of the transfer window.

The report claims that Watford showed their interest in moving for Iturbe last night, following the knowledge of his availability on the market.

The former Porto and Hellas Verona star has been linked with a switch to the Hornets in the past, with a report in the Watford Observer, published in 2013, claiming that talks were being held with him.

Then director of football Gianluca Nani was said to be a fan, but it is stated that a move fell apart due to problems with his contract.

Once again, Watford could face problems whilst attempting to sign Iturbe, as they are competing with two other Premier League sides for his signature.

Gazzetta dello Sport reported earlier this week that both Everton and West Ham were looking to seal a deal for Iturbe in the coming days, and the Hornets will have to move quickly if they intend to add the winger to their squad before the close of the transfer window. There is no reference as to whether Watford, Everton or the Hammers have yet to make a formal approach for the 22-year-old.
