Newcastle United will take on Arsenal at home in the Premier League on Saturday.

Paul Merson has predicted on that Arsenal will win against Newcastle United away from home in the Premier League this weekend.

The Gunners will take on the Magpies at St. James’ Park on Saturday afternoon, and former Arsenal attacker Merson believes that Arsene Wenger’s side will eke out a 2-1 win.

The 47-year-old has also given his verdict on Newcastle head coach Steve McClaren, claiming that he will deliver the goods at St. James’ Park.

“Arsenal have got injury problems and Newcastle will have a right go at them,” Merson wrote on “It’s another must-win for the Gunners.

“I'm going for a 2-1 win to Arsenal but it will be a hard game without Per Mertesacker and Laurent Koscielny.”

“Newcastle will be alright, I like Steve McClaren and he'll bring some form of stability, but not overnight,” added Merson.

Could Paul Merson’s prediction come true?

Arsenal will head into Saturday’s match as favourites, despite being the visiting team.

The North London outfit have not been made a great start to the season, but they will be encouraged with four points from their last two league matches.

The Gunners played out a goalless draw with Liverpool at the Emirates Stadium on Monday.

Meanwhile, Newcastle will head into the home match on the back of a 4-1 hammering of Northampton Town at St. James' Park in the second round of League Cup.

Last weekend, McClaren’s side held Manchester United to a goalless draw away from home at Old Trafford.

Newcastle will fancy their chances of winning against Arsenal, but they may have to settle for a draw in the end.
