The Reds will face West Ham at Anfield in the Premier League on Saturday, and former Arsenal star Merson has backed Brendan Rodgers’s side to register a comfortable 3-0 win.
The 47-year-old has also said these are worrying times for West Ham, who have lost both of their home matches in the Premier League this season.
“I can't see anything but a Liverpool win here with the way West Ham are defending,” former Arsenal attacker Merson wrote on Skysports.com. “They were lucky they beat Arsenal otherwise there would be real panic stations.
“You look at the two home games they've just played, Leicester and Bournemouth, who are both likely to be bottom half, and they've lost both of them. It's worrying for West Ham.”
West Ham started the 2015-16 Premier League campaign with a 2-0 victory over Arsenal away from home at the Emirates Stadium in North London.
However, Slaven Bilic’s side went down 2-1 to Leicester City at the Boleyn Ground in their very next game, before losing 4-3 to Bournemouth at home.
Meanwhile, Liverpool will head into Saturday’s match at Anfield on the back of a goalless draw with Arsenal away from home at the Emirates.
Prior to that draw, the Reds had defeated Bournemouth 1-0 at home and won against Stoke City at the Britannia Stadium by the same margin.
