Manchester United media round-up: De Gea camp confident of deadline-day move

Old Trafford 3

A round up of news stories this morning related to Manchester United.

The Daily Mirror has reported that the representatives of Manchester United goalkeeper David De Gea are confident that a move to Real Madrid will happen.

De Gea is yet to complete any switch to the Bernabeu as he’s been left out in the cold by manager Louis van Gaal.

The paper claims that a transfer in the region of £30 million is still on the cards inside the current transfer window.

Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher has told the Daily Star that he feels Wayne Rooney’s goals will give Manchester United a big lift.

Rooney bagged a hat-trick earlier this week in United’s Champions League play-off win over FC Brugge.

It capped a run of over 800 competitive minutes for Rooney without a goal in a Manchester United shirt.

“It will do Wayne wonders but also the team as well. They have been struggling to score goals,” he said.

Manchester United midfielder Ander Herrera has been quoted by explaining that he feels the club have to challenge for the Champions League.

United have been handed a group with PSV Eindhoven, CSKA Moscow and German side Wolfsburg.

Herrera appeared cautious, but refused to rule out the idea that United would be going all out to win the competition.

“It’s too early. We have to go step by step, but of course, we are representing one of the biggest clubs in the world,” he said.
