Fulham have launched a new bid for long-term target Richard Stearman as they desperately look to bolster their defensive options before the close of the transfer window, HITC Sport understands from sources close to the club.
Fulham have been chasing Stearman for most of the summer and saw their opening bid for the 27-year-old rejected back in June – as revealed by HITC Sport.
Kit Symons is determined to overhaul his defence, making a new central defender one of his top priorities, but he has been frustrated in his attempts to sign his top targets.
Fulham have missed out Brighton & Hove Albion stopper Lewis Dunk and Symons is keen to bring in Stearman as he feels his experience and versatility will make him a valuable addition to his squad.
Wolves are determined to keep hold of Stearman, with the defender establishing himself as a key member of Kenny Jackett's side.
Stearman is in the final year of his contract at Molineux, though, and has yet to agree a new deal, opening the door for Fulham to try and lure him to Craven Cottage.
