To be played on Saturday 29th August 2015 at 15:00. Venue: City Ground, Nottingham
Odds: Forest 13/10, Draw 12/5, Cardiff 2/1
The Reds, who opened the campaign with defeats in the league and Capital One Cup, have collected five points from their last three outings – and will be disappointed not to have taken more from back-to-back draws with Charlton Athletic and Bolton Wanderers.
Saturday’s outing on home soil will give them the opportunity to really kick-start their season, with Dougie Freedman having pieced together a squad he is happy with, and one which is still to welcome a number of key men back into the fold off the treatment table.
Cardiff, though, will provide tough opposition this weekend after enjoying a productive run out of the blocks.
A 2-1 defeat to MK Dons in midweek League Cup competition was their first reversal of the season, having accumulated six points from their four second tier fixtures so far.
They were taken to extra-time by the Dons on Tuesday, which may have drained vital energy from the tank, but they will be in confident mood as they prepare to head to the East Midlands.
The Bluebirds took six points from two 2-1 victories over Forest in 2014/15 – including a final day win on Trentside – so will be hoping to see that sequence of results extended on Saturday.
They have had a few knocks and illnesses to overcome, but Russell Slade should have plenty of options at his disposal when the time comes to settle on a starting XI.

“I can only speak on my experiences coming to Forest in the past. If the opposition go 1-0 behind and 30,000 people go crazy, it is a difficult place to come back at.”

“Last season we came off a relegation campaign and everybody was low, sad. Now we have smiles on faces through the squad, we are in this together and we have confidence in each other.”
