The South Coast club are being linked with a sensational bid for Jonathan Calleri.

Brighton and Hove Albion are being tentatively linked with a jaw-dropping move for Argentine sensation Jonathan Calleri today.

Sky Sports is linking to a report in the local paper The Argus about an apparent move for the player. Brighton have purportedly bid around £5 million for the player in what would be a sensational move.

Calleri is a player who has been watched by both Arsenal and Liverpool, according to the Daily Star.

He recently grabbed headlines for what was a fantastic Rabona goal for the club, stealing the show from the likes of Carlos Tevez.

This was the goal in question…

He has scored 20 goals for the club in 50 appearances and at just 21 is a real star of the future.

But Brighton fans must temper their excitement.

Just two days ago this is what Calleri said to the Spanish speaking publication Vavel about his future, with no clue toward an English switch, let alone to Brighton:

"I knew that I would not be sold and I did not want to go. I want to win the title, I feel comfortable here.

"I have three more years contract with the club. In the future I would get to the Italian League, resembles my style of play. My desire is to play at Inter Milan. "

It would of course be a fantastic signing which would signify the ambition of the Sussex club but for now Brighton fans must remain calm.

If it does come off however, then all bets are off.
