The Libyan international headed to Palermo instead but is set to be loaned out.
A player Celtic were heavily linked with in the summer is reportedly up for grabs again. Ahmad Benali is the player in question.
In the summer ago it looked as though the Libyan international was on his way to Celtic.
The Bhoys had reportedly agreed a deal to snap him up ahead of competition from Everton and Real Sociedad, according to a report from TMW.
The Italian source claimed that the midfield talent had accepted a deal with Celtic and will be joining the Glasgow club in the summer.
In the end however he went to Palermo, but he his yet to make his debut for the club and is apparently up for grabs on a loan deal.
Pescara are said to be on the verge of signing the player on loan, with TMW reporting that a deal could be close.
So should Celtic swoop on the Manchester born and raised former Manchester City youngster again?
The combative midfielder could certainly add some competition to that area of the midfield and give Scott Brown and Nir Bitton something to think about.
However the midfield area is fairly well stocked in general, with Scott Allan recently arriving from Hibernian.
Benali looks to be on his way out of Palermo for now and Celtic might be able to get a hold on a player they clearly missed out on.
However, the Glasgow switch is probably now three months to late.
