The Saints legend took to social media straight after his former side's European elimination.
Indeed, the South Coast club lost 1-0 away from home after drawing 1-1 in the first leg at St Mary's and their fantastic work in qualifying for Europe last season ended up meaning no group stages for Ronald Koeman's side.
And Le Tissier's initial reaction summed things up...
Well that was a tad disappointing!— Matt Le Tissier (@mattletiss7) August 27, 2015
But the Southampton legend did produce a more calculated response shortly afterward, suggesting key reasons for why Koeman's men aren't firing quite yet.
Indeed, he sent fans an important message: not to panic - and that they have been spoiled by the club's recent success.
Its a massively changed team from last season at the moment and is gonna need time to regroup and get used to the different personnel— Matt Le Tissier (@mattletiss7) August 27, 2015
Think we have been a bit spoilt over the last couple of years. Have some important players missing at the moment #dontpanic— Matt Le Tissier (@mattletiss7) August 27, 2015
It's been a poor start to the season for Southampton in all competitions, with their Premier League form also wavering.
As Le Tissier states, however, it is very early in the campaign and recent achievements have certainly skewed the perspective at St Mary's.
Even if the Saints were to enjoy a poor campaign in general, they would still be on an upwards trajectory. Koeman, meanwhile, could well be earning rave reviews again in just a couple of weeks' time...
