Crystal Palace defender Scott Dann has told the Croydon Advertiser what he’s noticed about new signing Bakary Sako in training.
Sako was recently snapped up by Palace boss Alan Pardew after making a strong impression with Wolves in the Championship.
Dann has suggested that the squad are still getting to know their new teammate, but he’s explained that he’s already shown a natural talent training with the rest of the squad.
“He hasn't really trained with us too much because he's been getting himself up to fitness and doing some extra work by himself,” he told the Croydon Advertiser.
“In training he has looked really good when he has joined in and he's got a hell of a strike. He's going to be dangerous. You can see he's powerful with his stature.”
Realistic expectations needed
It’s always going to be difficult for an attacking player making a step up into the Premier League to have a prolonged instant impact.
Sako definitely has talent but he’s going to experience a higher quality level of defending in the top flight of English football.
Defenders will be stronger and quicker and more intelligent in terms of how they read his play and get into positions where they can stop him.
However, he showed with a goal against Aston Villa that he’s got a sense of how he can get an edge when playing in the Premier League and hopefully he can excel in the face of the challenges he’ll come up against.
