Everton and Barnsley played out a thrilling Capital One Cup tie last night – with the Premier League side eventually taking the spoils after extra time.
The game ended 5-3 to The Toffees. After being 2-0 down they had clawed their way back to 2-2 courtesy of Kevin Mirallas and Steven Naismith strikes.
But a goal from Arsenal loanee Dan Crowley then gave Barnsley the lead again.
The talented midfielder but in a performance that belied his age in the midfield for the Yorkshire club and had Arsenal fans purring at his potential.
Comparable in style by many to Jack Wilshere, his performance was more Cesc Fabregas, with some fine passing and intelligent play throughout the game.
It was a goal that of course got noticed at his parent club. Youth team-mate Chuba Akpom, currently on loan from Arsenal to Hull City, sent out this Tweet after the goal.

Another former youth team-mate, Jack Jebb, who is currently a free agent after his release by Arsenal, also Tweeted:

Meanwhile Barry Bannan, who was at Aston Villa whilst Crowley was coming through the ranks there, also Tweeted his amazement – tipping him for big things.
