HITC Sport reported earlier this week that the Ghana international could be in line for a shock departure from the Riverside Stadium.
He has now moved another step closer to the exits by expressing his desire to move on before the transfer window closes on Tuesday evening.
The 27-year-old only penned a new contract with Boro in November 2014, with that agreement intended to keep him at the club until 2017.
He could, however, be on the move in a matter of days, with it understood that Premier League and Championship interest has been shown in his services.
No official approach has been lodged as yet by any of the potential suitors, but those efforts are likely to be stepped up as deadline day approaches.
If he is to move on, Adomah will leave Middlesbrough having made close to 100 appearances for the club across two seasons, with those outings delivering 18 goals – including 12 during a productive debut campaign with the Teesside outfit in 2013/14.
