Ex-Baggies boss Alan Irvine has suggested Saido Berahino would be better off overlooking a move to Tottenham.
Former West Brom boss Alan Irvine told talkSPORT what he’d tell Saido Berahino if the player approached him over a possible move to Tottenham.
“Saido’s a really important player for them and they don’t need to sell him, he’s obviously under contract – if they want to keep him there then that’s exactly what they’ll do – If I was asked my opinion by Saido then I would say just stay where you are,” he told talkSPORT.
West Brom hold all of the power
West Brom hold all of the aces because they are under no pressure to sell the player.
With the transfer deadline now just around the corner, they can set their price and stick to it and if Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy won’t meet it, the Baggies retain a talented attacking player.
West Brom also know that Tottenham are desperate for an additional striker and unless Spurs are willing to include a player going the other way, they just don’t have to budge over their asking price.
It’s a situation which could roll on for the next few days until the realisation sets in at Tottenham that they will have to pay up or be prepared to miss out.
