Abou Diaby has had a slow start at Marseille since signing.
He is pictured above earlier this month watching their Ligue 1 opener from the stands alongside brief former Arsenal teammate Lassana Diarra.
Diaby was released by Arsenal this summer after playing just two games in the last two seasons, with his body dealing with a succession of injuries dating back to his debut season for the club in 2006.
The midfielder came close to signing for West Brom this summer The BBC reported, but opted for a return to France.
His signing would have been a gamble, and so far it appears the Baggies are not missing out.
With the season already underway, Diaby is yet to feature.
French website Maxifoot reported this week that he has not even started training, but new boss Michel is 'optimistic' he could begin doing so in two to three weeks.
As Arsenal fans will recall, that is the sort of projection they have heard all too often, only for there to be a setback.
The 28-year-old is a talented player but so far his fortunes are not changing.
Maxifoot report that elements of his salary are dependent on how many games he plays.
