Sunderland fans react on Twitter to Duncan Watmore’s goal against Exeter

Sunderland fans believe Watmore should now be starting for Dick Advocaat’s side.

Sunderland clinched a thrilling victory against Exeter in the League Cup, winning 6-3.

The Black Cats strikes came courtesy of a Jermain Defoe hat-trick, a brace from Jack Rodwell, and a lone strike from youngster Duncan Watmore.

Watmore, who scored in the Premier League loss to Norwich last week, is considered one of the brightest talents in the Sunderland academy, and with him starting to find the back of the net, it appears as if he is ready to make the step up to the first-team on a consistent basis.

The 21-year-old forward has been showing passion in his appearances, and with the poor performances put in by a number of Sunderland’s senior players, this kind of hard work ethic is what fans want to see from their players.

He may not be as talented as some of the Black Cats first-team stars, but his passion makes him a much better option for Advocaat to select, and following his goal yesterday, Sunderland fans took to Twitter to express their delight at his performance - and their desire to see him finally start for the Wearside club.
