Siem de Jong has taken to Twitter to celebrate the landmark appearance he made for Newcastle United on Tuesday night.
Indeed, the 26-year-old forward completed his first full competitive game for over a year, as he assigned some of his injury troubles to the past during a 4-1 victory over Northampton. Not only did De Jong complete the milestone, of course, he also scored during the Capital One Cup win.
But what's next for the 26-year-old? Can he stay fit? And can he break into Steve McClaren's side for good after this summer's attacking reinforcements?
The Dutchman's fitness problems need no further documenting but his comeback at the start of this season has been an encouraging one. When will the Newcastle man be ready to do the same but against Premier League opposition?
Next up for the Magpies is a Premier League game against Arsenal at St James' Park. It should represent a tough clash for McClaren's men but, after the Gunners' indifferent start to their campaign, Newcastle will certainly not be without a chance against the north London outfit during Saturday's early kick-off.
