Sheffield Wednesday fans slam Atdhe Nuhiu performance on Twitter, despite scoring winning goal

The Austrian is not popular among the majority of Wednesday supporters.

Sheffield Wednesday will play Newcastle United in the next round of the Capital One Cup after overcoming League Two side Oxford United last night.

They won the game 1-0 courtesy of Atdhe Nuhiu’s first goal of the season for the club, which eventually put to an end a plucky resistance from Oxford.

The Austrian striker has seen his name linked with a move away from the club recently but remains a first-choice option for Carlos Carvalhal.

That is despite growing criticism from Wednesday fans, which could not be stopped despite his goalscoring heroics.

Nuhiu is not blessed for pace and lurches at an imposing height which makes him an easy target – he is not exactly the most fashionable of footballers, to be kind.

In fact, despite scoring the winning goal yesterday, Wednesday fans are still not pleased with the giant striker and demonstrated that online.

The reaction to his performance on Twitter was largely negative, with his tap-in finish simply not enough to convince his group of haters that he has what it takes to lead the line at Hillsborough this season.
