Report: Leicester City close to signing Demarai Gray, buyout clause triggered

Leicester City - King Power Stadium

Leicester City are reportedly on the verge of signing Birmingham City winger Demarai Gray.

According to The Guardian, Leicester City have agreed to pay the £4.7m release clause in Birmingham City winger Demarai Gray's contract.

The Foxes have already spent heavily this summer, bringing in the likes of Yohan Benalouane, Robert Huth, Christian Fuchs, Gokhan Inler, N'Golo Kante and Shinji Okazaki - and so far, it's paying off.

Claudio Ranieri's side have made a superb start to life this season, winning two and drawing the other of their first three games, with Riyad Mahrez stealing the limelight out wide.

Despite those performances, Leicester are set to snap up another winger, with Demarai Gray seemingly poised for a move to the King Power Stadium.

The Guardian report that Leicester have agreed to pay the £4.7m release clause in the Birmingham City winger's contract, triggering his seemingly imminent exit from St. Andrews.

Gray, 19, has come up through the ranks with Birmingham, and scored six goals for the club like last season in a promising campaign under Gary Rowett.

Now though, the teenage sensation looks set to move on to the Premier League with Leicester, where he may be considered as one for the future rather than an instant contributor - but with his pace and dribbling ability, he could be a threat regardless.
