The two French players were involved in a swap deal this summer.
Newcastle United recently decided to let Remy Cabella head away from the club. Snapped up from Montpellier last summer the mercurial Frenchman failed to settle into English football and they have now decided to switch him for fellow French attacker Florian Thauvin.
Now Cabella has been speaking for the first time since leaving the club.
Speaking to French radio station RMC he discussed his time at Newcastle and the chance for Thauvin to be a hit at St James Park.
He made it clear that he feels Thauvin will be a hit at Newcastle, but he will need to be given time to adjust to his new surroundings:
"I think he can succeed. He will play left midfield or right midfield and that is the position where the coach was looking for someone.
"He has the qualities to win but it will take a little time as it takes time to adapt to England. He must also get along with the players and integrate with the team."
Thauvin has certainly started off with a bang. He was in great form and scored in the Capital One Cup match with League Two side Northampton Town. Of course a good performance in a fixture against a side in the fourth tier is not yet enough to prove any doubters wrong, but it is certainly a great start.
Thauvin struggled at times with his former club Olympique Marseille where he became an increasingly unpopular figure among the fans at the club.
He will now be hoping to fulfil Cabella’s prophecy at St James Park.
