Manchester United transfer news: Barca supremo dismisses Neymar rumours; Gaitan latest

A select round-up of the latest news relating to Manchester United

According to a report from the Independent, Barcelona president Josep Maria Bartomeu has made it clear that Neymar will not be signing for Manchester United this summer, despite rumours to the contrary.

Speaking to Catalunya Radio, the Barca supremo said, “Those are just rumours and what people write but there is nothing to it. Neymar is happy at Barca.”

There is no doubt the Brazilian superstar would be a wonderful addition to United’s side but considering he has three years left on his current contract and has a huge buy-out clause a move was always a long shot – even by rumour mill standards.

In other news, Portuguese newspaper O Jogo reports that Benfica winger Nicolas Gaitain turned down a move to Al-Ahli – where he was allegedly offered a hefty pay packet – because he is holding out for a move to a top league.

That has led the Daily Star to throw United back into the mix, claiming Gaitan is in fact holding out for a specific move to Old Trafford.

Considering the sheer number of times the Argentine wide-man has been linked with United, the assumption is he would have moved there by now if it was ever going to happen…but watch this space.
