Harry Redknapp predicts where Liverpool will finish this season after Arsenal stalemate

Harry Redknapp was impressed with Liverpool's display against Arsenal.

Harry Redknapp has told Kicca that whilst Liverpool improved against Arsenal, he doesn't believe will they will finish in the top four this season.

The Reds opened the season with two unconvincing 1-0 wins over Stoke City and Bournemouth, and then had the tough task of heading to the Emirates Stadium on Monday night.

Yet on the night, Liverpool were the better side, and manager Brendan Rodgers will be cursing his luck having seen Philippe Coutinho hit the woodwork twice, whilst Christian Benteke had a close range shot superbly saved by Petr Cech.

On another night, Liverpool could have taken all three points, but they will be happy with their performance in the 0-0 stalemate against a team who they will be challenging with for a top four place.

Now, former Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp has taken to Kicca to discuss Liverpool's display, and admitted that Liverpool produced a much improved display against Arsenal.

However, Redknapp still doesn't expect Liverpool to break into the top four this term, and whilst he believes it isn't impossible for the Reds to do it, a fifth or sixth place finish is more realistic right now.

"Liverpool played much better last night against Arsenal than they did against Bournemouth," said Redknapp. "I thought they were average against Bournemouth. They’ll be pushing for the top four, but at the moment you think they’ll finish fifth or sixth. It’s not impossible for them to break into the top four this year – but it won’t be easy," he added.

Having done most of their business early this summer - such as signing Nathaniel Clyne, James Milner, Roberto Firmino and Christian Benteke - Liverpool are unlikely to be making any more moves in the transfer market before next week's deadline.

Rodgers' job is now to get those new signings integrated quickly, but the performance against Arsenal suggest that there is plenty more to come from Liverpool this season.
