Aston Villa and Newcastle have reportedly been put off by Diego Rolan's asking price.

According to Le10 Sport, Aston Villa and Newcastle United have cooled their interest in signing Bordeaux forward Diego Rolan due to his asking price.

Both teams have already signed attacking players this summer, with Jordan Ayew, Rudy Gestede and Adama Traore joining Villa, whilst Aleksandar Mitrovic and Florian Thauvin have arrived at Newcastle.

However, it seems that both teams are still looking for one more forward, just days away from the end of the summer transfer window.

Le10 Sport in France report that that Villa and Newcastle had been interested in a move to sign Bordeaux star Rolan, who hit 15 goals for the Ligue 1 outfit last season.

The 22-year-old forward, who can play on the shoulder of the last man or out wide, possesses impressive pace to trouble defences in behind, and would be a great complement for either Gestede at Villa or Newcastle's Mitrovic, who are more like target men.

However, Le10 Sport suggest that Bordeaux's valuation of €20m (£14.5m) has been deemed too expensive by both Premier League clubs, who have now cooled their interest in signing the Uruguayan international.

It's also suggested that, due to the drop of interest in his signature, Rolan has now opened discussions with Bordeaux over a deal to stay with the club beyond 2017, when his current contract expires.
