Dick Advocaat confirms talks about Jason Denayer, admits Sunderland are still looking for players

Sunderland boss Advocaat still wants to complete more signings before the end of the transfer window.

With just under a week left to go of the transfer window, Sunderland are still looking for more players with Dick Advocaat confirming to the Sunderland Echo that talks have been held regarding Jason Denayer and other potential signings.

Advocaat said: “There has been talk about the young guy from Manchester City, but he is going to another club. We are still looking, but when Kaboul is fit, he’s a very good player.”

It is stated in the report that Advocaat was looking at bringing in Jason Denayer on a loan deal from Manchester City, and he has confirmed that talks were held to move for the former Celtic loanee.

However, the head coach has admitted that he is heading to a different team, and the report claims that both Galatasaray and Marseille are leading the race for his signature.

Whilst that deal for Denayer looks to be off the table, Advocaat has admitted that he and sporting director Lee Congerton are still looking for further reinforcements, with another centre-back a priority.

There are no indications in the report as to any deals for defenders being near to completion, but it is clear that Advocaat wants to bring in another centre-half before the end of this month.
