Derby County manager Paul Clement is happy he'll have extra players back for the match against Leeds United.

Derby County manager Paul Clement has told the club’s official website that it will be nice for him to have extra bodies back for the game against Leeds this weekend.

Derby played with only two experienced midfielders in the draw against Birmingham last week, with Clement explaining that the system for that game picked itself because of the personnel who were and weren’t available.

Hopefully he’ll have a few more options this weekend, with players due to recover over the rest of the week.

“It will be nice to have a few bodies back for the game. The system we played at Birmingham kind of picked itself to be honest,” he told dcfc.co.uk.

“We have gone from playing with four midfielders down to three and then two.”

“It left us with no real choice so hopefully by getting Hanson, Hendrick and, hopefully, Bryson back will help us.”

A difficult start

Derby’s season hasn’t started the way that the manager and the fans would have been hoping for.

The Rams are striving for that perfect performance, which hasn’t been possible with players still getting used to Clement’s methods and because of one or two early injury issues.

Hopefully it will be a case of everything clicking over the next few weeks and the club growing stronger from that point.

Last season showed just how competitive and close the big teams are in the Championship and Derby can’t allow too big a gap to develop at the top of the table as they chase the Holy Grail of promotion into the Premier League.
