Bayer Leverkusen respond to Heung-Min Son to Tottenham medical reports, intrigue over player's current status

Bayer Leverkusen have responded to reports linking Heung-Min Son with a move to Tottenham Hotspur.

Bayer Leverkusen have attempted to brush aside reports Heung-Min Son is on the verge of joining Tottenham Hotspur.

According to SportBILD, Tottenham have made an approach for the South Korean, while report Leverkusen have accepted an offer and the South Korean will travel to the club for a medical.

The reports are an unwanted distraction for the Bundesliga club, who face a critical match tonight in the Champions League qualifiers.

Responding to the claims regard Heung-Min Son, Leverkusen are quoted by the Kölner Stadt-Anzeige, stating:

"That is not our subject, we are facing the most important game of the season."

Leverkusen take on Lazio tonight hoping to overturn a 1-0 defeat from the first leg, with the victor qualifying for the lucrative Champions League group stages.

Do not expect the forward to start the fixture however, as Leverkusen confirmed via their official twitter account 24 hours earlier he had missed training sessions to to an 'infection', which also led to him missing the game with Hannover at the weekend.

His injury should be taken at face value, but there is also intrigue as to whether it is a cover for the attacker being unsettled amid negotiations for a transfer to Tottenham.

He would be more of a replacement for Erik Lamela than the striker Tottenham need, but the reports indicate positive action at Tottenham's end, and for Leverkusen's attempt to diffuse the accelerating story - there is no denial.
