Thierry Henry has been discussing the difference he saw in Newcastle at the weekend as opposed to the previous season.
Arsenal legend Thierry Henry has been discussing the difference between this Newcastle United side and the one he watched at the end of last season.
Henry was speaking to SkySports Monday Night Football, admitting he was impressed by Steve McClaren's side getting a draw at Old Trafford at the weekend, a game they nearly won at the death.
Last year's side under John Carver? Not so much...
Henry said: "Away from home last year's side were shocking. They were one of the worst teams I've seen.
"I liked the way they played at Manchester United. They had a good shape, and a good idea of what they wanted to do, and got a good draw."
Compliments are good, but the league table after three games has Newcastle in 17th place without a win, so the side will want to start pushing on and building on the result at Old Trafford.
They will not want to follow it up with a Capital One Cup loss to Northampton Town this week, while a big game in the Premier League against Arsenal at the weekend awaits.
Newcastle have struggled at St James' Park against the Gunners in recent seasons, and a win this weekend would really be a standout result in showcasing their progress.
