The 12-capped international has played 73 times for the Giallorossi since signing in 2013, and has since scored 15 goals and registered eight assists. He is usually utilised as a left-winger, but is equally adept at featuring as a number 10 in a more central role.
The Il Tempo report states that Spurs have held a long-term interest in Ljajic for much of this summer, and although they have yet to make a formal approach, the Lilywhites could push ahead with a move now that Villa have held concrete talks with him.
Ljajic sat out of Roma’s opening day Serie A draw with Hellas Verona, failing to make it off the bench for the 1-1 game, and an exit from Rome looks likely before the close of the window.
Whilst Villa are hoping to get his signing over the line in the coming days, it could be Spurs who increase their interest and swoop to sign the attacking midfielder ahead of their Premier League rivals.
