James Tavernier has been named in the SPFL Team of the Week.
Rangers defender James Tavernier has been rewarded for his display against Hibernian by being named in the Scottish Professional Football League Team of the Week.
Right back Tavernier, 23, joined Rangers on a permanent deal from Wigan Athletic following a loan spell with Bristol City last season.
In his short time at Ibrox so far, Tavernier has quickly become a fan favourite having hit four goals in six games from defence; a frankly remarkable record.
His latest strike came on Sunday, as his second half free kick gave Rangers a 1-0 home win over Hibernian, with Tavernier once again displaying his ability from set pieces.
The former Newcastle man has made a stunning start to life at Ibrox, and his inclusion in the Team of the Week illustrates just how impressive he has been.
Tavernier took to Twitter after finding out he had been named in the Team of the Week, and admitted that he wouldn't have been included had it not been for his Rangers team-mates.
Expecting Tavernier to keep up this unbelievable goalscoring record would be far too ambitious, but manager Mark Warburton will certainly feel that he has an extra attacking threat with his forward-thinking right back.
Tavernier is the pick of Warburton's summer signings so far, and being named in the Team of the Week shows just how important he was against Hibernian - and Rangers fans will be hoping that he continues this form throughout the campaign.
