Leicester City face competition from French giants Marseille for FC Copenhagen midfielder Daniel Amartey, HITC Sport understands from sources close to the club.
Leicester have been chasing Amartey all summer and have seen one bid of £4.5million rejected by Copenhagen for the highly-rated 20-year-old - as covered by HITC Sport.
FC Copenhagen are reluctant to lose Amartey, but they know they face a battle to turn down a big-money offer for the player after failing to qualify for the Europa League group stages.
The Foxes are refusing to give up in their pursuit of the all-action midfielder and have remained locked in talks with Copenhagen as they try to thrash out a deal for the Ghana international.
However, Marseille are hoping to beat Leicester to Amartey's signature and have made a firm bid for the African star as they look to lure the player to the Stade Velodrome.
It remains to be seen if Leicester will come in with a counter offer to Marseille's bid, but Foxes boss Claudio Ranieri will be determined not to lose out on Amartey having identified the versatile performer as one of his top targets since taking over at the King Power Stadium.
