Brendan Rodgers took his side to North London, and managed to come away with a share of the spoils after an excellent game.
Both sides were saved by their respective goalkeepers, with the Reds dominating the first-half, before Arsenal grew into the game as it wore on, but were denied by Simon Mignolet.
Due to the injury to Jordan Henderson, Rodgers had to make some tactical switches to his starting line up, and it meant that Roberto Firmino - the summer signing from Hoffenheim - made his full debut after a couple of substitute appearances.
He lasted 63 minutes, and impressed on his full debut. The youngster completed four dribbles, made two shots and played three key passes. He still looked short of fitness, and he was much less influential in the second half than in the opening 45 minutes, but it was a debut to be pleased with.
However, the Liverpool fanbase did not seem enamoured by the young attacker, and fans took to Twitter after the game to share their mixed feelings on his performance. Whilst some praised him for his attacking play, many others believed Firmino’s lack of defensive work did not fit into Rodgers’ tactical set-up.
We collect the best responses to Firmino’s display below.
Thought Firmino showed some good touches. Just needs game time to adapt and find his sharpness.— Sean Phillips (@seanphillips84) August 24, 2015
Ibe on for Firmino. Showed good glimpses tonight and worked very hard— Anfield Talk (@Anfield_Talk) August 24, 2015
So many good performances from last night. Clyne, Gomez, Lucas, Coutinho, Milner and Firmino in particular.— #JFT96 (@chrisjonesZero) August 25, 2015
@buckotb shouldn't have took Firmino off, he looked good.— Taylor Maza (@taylormaza) August 25, 2015
Firmino had a good game and could have had an assist to his name— Hugh-Reece #YNWA (@HAnfieldJ8) August 25, 2015
Thought Firmino showed some excellent touches & play, like the look of him & Clyne is rapidly turning into a great signing. Top fullback.— Kevin (@KevOrf_5) August 24, 2015
The boy Firmino looks dreadful! Another waste of money by the comedy act that is Brendan!#lfc— Greg (@greg_phtb) August 24, 2015

Quietly not great today: Firmino. First start, gelling with the side, etc, but yeesh. Some bad passes.— Conor Dowley (@c_dowley) August 24, 2015
Not saying Firmino is bad or playing bad, just need him to stop losing the ball so easy— Femotelli (@FemPDT) August 24, 2015
