Gallery: Woodwork shaken, fine saves made but neither Arsenal or Liverpool's defences breached

Arsenal and Liverpool somehow played out a goalless draw at the Emirates Stadium.

It was the oddest 0-0 you'll probably ever see at the Emirates Stadium last night as both Arsenal and Liverpool had their chances, there was a string of fine saves from both of the goalkeepers, the woodwork rattled, but neither side ultimately breached - though Arsenal will feel hard done by that Aaron Ramsey's effort wasn't allowed to stand as he was flagged for offside.

Liverpool had the best of the first half, despite Ramsey's effort but an early drive from Philippe Coutinho rattled off the crossbar - Petr Cech made some good saves before pushing another Coutinho effort on to the post. That was the story of the first half.

The second half saw an Arsenal side, much changed at the back from last week's win over Crystal Palace, raise their game and it was Liverpool's turn to live a little nervously. Simon Mignolet was forced into a string of saves in order for Liverpool to preserve their clean sheet record at the start of this season.

Arsenal brought on more pace towards the end in order to force a winner, Liverpool brought on youngsters in order to offer some fresh legs, and in the end see the game out - though better decision making in the final third could've seen Alberto Moreno as hero for the visitors.
