One young Tottenham Hotspur midfielder has been speaking about another.
Tottenham led through substitute Dele Alli, the 19-year-old midfielder scoring his first goal since arriving from MK Dons earlier this year. But Riyad Mahrez equalised for the Foxes, leaving Mauricio Pochettino’s side with just two points from their first three matches this season.
Carroll reflected on another missed opportunity for his side after they saw a lead lost for the second time in a week.
“Don’t get me wrong, Leicester are a good side and they’ll upset some big teams here this year, but we’re disappointed because we know we should have taken the three points,” he told tottenhamhotspur.com.
Carroll will be hoping this season marks his breakthrough into the Tottenham first-team after previous loan spells at the likes of Swansea City and Queens Park Rangers, but there is another young midfielder who already seems to be ahead of him in the pecking order.
Alli may only be 19 but he has all the attributes to be a key player for Tottenham for the next decade, and after his goal on Saturday Carroll was quick to praise him.
“I was delighted for Dele,” he said. “He’s settled in well since he’s arrived; he scored a lot of goals at MK Dons last year and I’m glad he’s scored here as well.”
