We reckon this lot could give the Invicibles a run for their money
My old five-a-side team went 22 games unbeaten, but the achievements of 'Yes! It's an extender' are nothing compared to this team from Nigeria.
Kano Pillars F.C. managed to make the Invicibles look like just puny earthlings after they went on a truly astonishing 12-year unbeaten streak at home. Yes, you read that right, TWELVE YEARS! That's 4,446 days! The last time they lost, Busted's 'Sleeping With the Light On' was number 1 in the charts, and err Pete Sampras retired form professional tennis.
Since then, Kano Pillars have gone on a 202 unbeaten run at home until disaster struck and the 'Masu Gida' fell to a truly shocking 2-1 defeat against Nasarawa United. What is even more shocking is the fact that one of their former strikers bagged both of the goals which left the team pretty shocked!
And despite losing their incredible record, the four time Nigerian Premier League champions took the defeat pretty well, and tweeted:
What a honorable loss for Masu Gida!— Kano Pillars FC (@pillarsfc) August 23, 2015
The last time we suffered a defeat at home was 12 Years ago! If anything we should celebrate today for the record.— Kano Pillars FC (@pillarsfc) August 23, 2015
They certainly took it better than Arsenal's Invicibles, with fans still a little bit salty about that penalty they conceded against Manchester United back in 2004...
Kano Pillars, we salute you!
