Leeds United youngster Chris Dawson impressed for the under-21 side last night.
Promising youngster Chris Dawson featured as Leeds United's under-21 side took on Sheffield United last night.
He joined first team stars Luke Murphy and Lewis Cook, getting their match fitness up after recent injuries and suspension.
Also featuring were summer signings Lee Erwin and Charlie Horton, along with forgotten man Casper Sloth.
Sloth failed once again to make an impression, while Erwin and Murphy found the net in a 2-1 win.
It was Dawson's display which attracted the most attention on social media, with fans continuing to be intrigued as to whether the 20-year-old has what it takes to crack the first team.
He had an injury scare in the second half when he fell awkwardly and a stretcher was even prepared, but fortunately shrugged off the knock and was able to continue.
It was a particular relief considering Dawson had an operation on an injured shoulder earlier in his career, as previously reported by The BBC.
The path to the first team is not so simple for Dawson, with huge competition for places in the midfield at present, but getting the chance to play alongside Murphy in particular will have been of benefit for him.
He did feature as a substitute in the Championship last season, and if he continues to impress for the under-21s, as Kalvin Phillips showed last season, his chance will eventually come this campaign, even if there is no longer the Capital One Cup for which Uwe Rosler to hand him an opportunity.
Here is a look at how Leeds fans reacted to his display...
Dawson just released Erwin again with a perfectly weighted pass but the Scot blasted it over. The former is the standout player atm. #lufc— Tommy D (@tdski_LUFC) August 24, 2015
