It was bound to happen, wasn't it?
After West Ham United co-owner David Sullivan infamously criticised Queens Park Rangers striker Charlie Austin's quality and fitness earlier this week, Saturday's events were already written in the stars.
The truth is the Hammers would be lucky to have the 26-year-old - and it looked as though West Ham fans knew that as they watched their side struggle at Upton Park. R's boss Chris Ramsey admitted everyone at the west London club were disappointed by Sullivan's comments but it clearly drew an on-pitch response from Austin, although he would likely have been in among the goals anyway.
After his two-goal, one-assist performance against Rotherham, however, the Hammers faithful were reflecting on why that should change on Twitter. Here's what they said after a day that made the east London club look a little silly...
Need to see what Bilic does rn. Charlie Austin is having a laugh at David Sullivan's expense rn as well. And Amalfitano don't care. #WHUFC— Average Beatmaker (@stutterinstan) August 22, 2015
...just to add to that embarassment, Charlie Austin scored twice and had an assist today for QPR. Thanks David Sullivan. #whufc— Billy Harper (@DollarBillUK) August 22, 2015
