River Plate defender Ramiro Funes Mori was snapped sitting in the stands at Goodison Park watching his expected new team Everton take on Manchester City.
The Argentine defender has been heavily linked with the club and has already undergone a medical ahead of a proposed £5.5 million switch, the Liverpool Echo report.
The Toffees are currently short on defenders after seeing Sylvan Distin and Antolin Alcaraz leave the club this summer, while the future of John Stones still remains a doubt ahead of the transfer deadline.
Mori is naturally a centre-back but is versatile enough to also play at right-back, an attribute which will please boss Roberto Martinez and prove the Spaniard with more defensive cover.
John Stones and Phil Jagiekla are likely to continue as the club’s number one centre-back partnership, but with the latter not getting any younger, fresh competition will be widely welcomed at Goodison Park.
Mori, 24, is a full Argentine international and comes with an impressive pedigree having recently helped River Plate secure the Copa Livertadores title with a two-legged victory over Mexican side Tigres.
The physicality and pace of the Premier League may take some getting used to, but judging by his attributes, Everton’s imminent new signing should fit in well.
As per the photograph above, he was in attendance for the Toffees’ encounter with Manchester City in which Roberto Martinez’s side were eventually beaten 2-0.
