Mesut Ozil says Arsenal know exactly how to beat Liverpool

Arsenal’s Mesut Ozil is confident his side can beat Liverpool on Monday.

Arsenal playmaker Mesut Ozil says his side know exactly how to beat Liverpool as they prepare to take on their Premier League rivals at the Emirates on Monday, the Daily Mail report.

The Gunners have generally gotten the better of Liverpool in North London with the Reds winning there just once in the last 15 years, a 2-0 victory in 2011.

Last season, an Ozil-inspired Arsenal were rampant at the Emirates as they defeated Brendan Rodgers’ men 4-1, with three first-half goals in eight minutes going unanswered.

It’s usually a tactical battle between these two and speaking ahead of Monday’s clash, German World Cup winner Ozil has turned up the heat by claiming his side know exactly how to beat the Merseysiders.

“We are at home and we know exactly how we can beat Liverpool; that is what we want to do on Monday,” Ozil explained, quoted by the Daily Mail.

“We have to believe in ourselves as we have the potential to beat every team and we will show that on Monday.”

Laying down a marker:

For both teams, the game at the Emirates could be seen as an opportunity to lay down an early season marker for their fellow Premier League title rivals.

Liverpool head into the game with a 100% record thanks to consecutive 1-0 wins over Stoke City and Bournemouth, and another positive result on Monday will show they’re up for the fight.

The Gunners, on the other hand, were disappointingly beaten by West Ham United in the opening match but bounced back with an impressive 2-1 win at Crystal Palace.

The pressure is arguably on the hosts, and a victory over the Anfield outfit will lift the mood around the club and prompt fresh belief that they can go on and win the title this season.
