Tottenham Hotspur will have to wait a while longer for their first victory of the season after drawing 1-1 with Leicester City at the King Power Stadium on Saturday.
Tottenham took the lead when young midfielder Dele Alli came off the bench to score with less than 10 minutes to play, but the Foxes burst up the other end and scored almost immediately, with Riyad Mahrez netting his fourth goal of the season.
Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino and chairman Daniel Levy still have time to put things right this summer with a few days left before the transfer window closes, but questions remain over the boss’s team selection – not least playing Mousa Dembele on the right wing.
The Belgian international divides opinion among Tottenham supporters and after the match there was plenty of debate on social media.
Following the draw – which left Tottenham with just two points from their first three league matches this season – we took to Twitter to see what their fans thought of Dembele’s contribution, and you can read a selection of what we found below:
Dembele should have no place in our first team. He is not good enough IMO.— Zeus #COYS (@superspurs34) August 23, 2015
Good football fills out new stadiums ... Not Dembele on the right wing #THFC— Frothy-YID-Beast (@Micky_Buckley) August 23, 2015
@sayers_14 Dembele would suit a deeper role for me if could improve defensively. Lamela = the most frustrating player I've seen in lilywhite— Mikey Ridding (@MikeyRiddYidd88) August 23, 2015
@richardsnatt Dembele slows the game down too much. No-one wanted to run beyond Kane - except Alli.— Joe (@sayers_14) August 23, 2015
Dembele has ONE position he can play, central attacking mid, if he ain't gonna get a game there then shift him. He ain't an inv winger or DM— glory glory (@gloryglorytott) August 23, 2015
@Bucks_PT Dembele was at his best in that advanced central role last season. Funnily enough we were at our best then too— Paul Bates (@Bateseyboy) August 23, 2015
