The 24-year-old started the Championship encounter at Elland Road and played for the entire 90 minutes, as it ended in a 1-1 draw.
Marco Matias put the Owls ahead in the Yorkshire derby with a stunning volley from 18 yards in the 37th minute.
Leeds, though, salvaged a point in the end, thanks to summer signing Chris Wood finding the target just past the hour mark.
Over the course of the 90 minutes, Wednesday had 40% of the possession, took nine shots of which three were on target, and earned four corners.
Hosts Leeds had 60% of the possession, took 20 shots of which three were on target, and earned three corners.
Lees, who joined Wednesday from Leeds in the summer of 2014, was awarded the ‘Match of the Match’ award.
The 24-year-old had a 82% pass accuracy, won 67% of the headers, and made three interceptions, six clearances and three blocks.
Although Wednesday fans were impressed with the performance of Lees on Saturday, Leeds supporters felt that Sol Bamba should have been awarded the ‘Man of the Match’ award (see tweets below).
The Ivory Coast international defender took one shot, had a pass accuracy of 90%, created one chance, attempted two dribbles, won 67% of the tackles and 83% of the headers, and made two interceptions, six clearances and two blocks.
