Arsenal have been linked with a move for Paris Saint-Germain striker Edinson Cavani.

According to a report in The Sun, Arsenal are plotting a move for Paris Saint-Germain star Edinson Cavani as they consider making one last dash ahead of the transfer window deadline.

The Gunners have so far only brought in Petr Cech this summer, whereas Premier League title rivals Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester United and Manchester City have all splashed the cash.

Speaking ahead of this side’s Monday night clash against the Reds, Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger admitted that the funds are available for a big-money deal and refused to rule out taking a late transfer window gamble.

“Of course, there is pressure to keep up with them. All of them have spent more money but only one can win the title. There’s always time to take a gamble and we’re not against taking one,” the Frenchman is quoted as saying by The Sun.

According to various reports such as the Daily Star, Arsenal have been heavily linked with Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema despite his apparent happiness in the Spanish capital.

A fresh report in The Sun, however, claims on the back of Wenger’s comments regarding a potential late gamble, PSG hitman Cavani is the big-money signing the club are eyeing up.

The Uruguay international would undoubtedly fall under the description of big-money gamble, although there can be no qualms over his evident ability and status as a world class striker.

Olivier Giroud could do with added competition upfront, and bringing in a star who has netted 56 goals in 96 games for PSG could certainly tip the potential destination of the title back in Arsenal’s favour.
